Dana Wells is a partner consultant with The Core Collaborative. As a classroom teacher she implements the work of Impact Teams with her grade level team, instructional leadership team as well as a school-wide vertical math team.
Dana designs and leads professional learning at the district and state level including courses in guided reading, cross-curricular language integration, creating successful vertical teams using action research, and best math practices. Her passion is leading Impact Teams (PLC’s) in diverse, struggling schools by empowering teachers and students to own their own learning and take responsibility for their own growth. She created and leads a math professional learning vertical team which is engaged in action research for the North Carolina Governor’s Teacher Network. This group is using a proven PLC process to analyze the impact of high-yield instructional strategies on student learning across grade levels. This work will be replicated across the state.
By using Evidence • Analysis • Action, Dana’s impact team/grade levels have shown significant gains in math and reading. She believes that all students and teachers can grow and learn if they know how to be successful, collaborate, and are reflective on their goals.
