Claudia has been a Coordinator of Site Accountability, Assessment, and Instruction, an After School Program Coordinator, and a classroom teacher.
As a Coordinator of Site Accountability, Assessment, and Instruction for the past 7 years, Claudia has success in building a student-centered learning community in a school which has a high population of English Language Learners, low socioeconomic status, and a large migrant population. After the school was identified as a Persistently Low Achieving School, Claudia's team developed systems to operationalize and monitor structures such as Response to Instruction, Common Core State Standards (CCSS) literature instruction, and Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s). Her team has also implemented formative assessments school-wide, with support on goal setting for both teachers and students.
She has led professional learning at her site around building CCSS curriculum design, formative assessment, meeting the needs of English Learners in ELA and writing. Her team also implemented school-wide systems for monitoring progress of students through the Student Study Team process and Language Review Team Process.
While working as an After School Program Coordinator, Claudia developed systems to improve planning, communication, and academic connection between the day instructional program and the After School Program leading to improved academic success for students.
Claudia has an Administrative Credential with a Master’s in Education from San Jose State University. She resides in Watsonville, CA.
