A posterboard display of the inquiry cycle by LTHS.

Lyons Township Highschool in La Grange, IL has been scaling Impact Teams for the past four years. Fourteen teams this year decided to take their collaboration to the next level by developing inquiry cycles around a component of the formative assessment process they wanted to strengthen as a team.

For example, a psychology team implemented Socratic Seminars with every unit and focused on strategic questioning with the hopes of increasing student ownership and teachers’ use of questioning. A scuba instructor team implemented peer assessment with under water success criteria cards and hand signals.

This past May teams involved in the process showcased the results of their inquiry using student evidence of impact to a public audience in a sharing symposium.

A team from LTHS and Dr. Paul Bloomberg will be sharing more of their story in December 2019 at Learning Forward National Conference in St. Louis, MO and don’t miss the LTHS coaching team at MindFuelED this summer. They will be presenting their coaching model to actualize the Evidence • Analysis • Action Classroom Model for formative assessment.
